Strengthening the Spirituality of the Community Through the Practice of Sholawat Ittisolana Based on the Study of Qur'anic Exegesis in Situbondo Regency

Abstract

This study examines the potential of Sholawat Ittisolana to strengthen community spirituality through the perspective of Qur’anic exegesis and community-based Islamic education in Situbondo Regency. Employing a qualitative literature review, the study synthesizes relevant scholarly articles, academic books, proceedings, and research reports concerning sholawat, Qur’anic interpretation, Living Qur’an, spirituality, and informal Islamic education. The literature was analyzed through reduction, thematic categorization, conceptual synthesis, and theoretical interpretation. The findings indicate that Sholawat Ittisolana can be understood as a lived religious practice that connects Qur’anic teachings with spiritual internalization, religious identity, social solidarity, and community learning. Qur’anic exegesis provides the normative and interpretive foundation, while repeated communal practice facilitates the internalization of religious values and strengthens spiritual awareness. The study contributes an integrated conceptual framework linking Qur’anic exegesis, Living Qur’an, spirituality, and community-based Islamic education. Practically, the findings highlight sholawat as a potential complementary resource for strengthening religious education, moral formation, and community spiritual resilience.
