Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics
DAAR EL-LUGHOH: Journal of Arabic Language Education is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on research and scholarly studies in Arabic language education. This ethical statement outlines the responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, the Editorial Board, and the publisher—as well as procedures for handling allegations of research and publication misconduct. This statement is developed with reference to the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
✒️ Ethical Guidelines for Publishing
Publishing research in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential part of developing and disseminating credible academic knowledge. It reflects the quality, originality, and integrity of scholarly work produced by authors and their institutions. Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, the Editorial Board, and the publisher—are expected to uphold high standards of academic integrity, transparency, fairness, and professional conduct.
DAAR EL-LUGHOH: Journal of Arabic Language Education is committed to maintaining ethical standards throughout the publication process. Editorial decisions are made independently based on academic quality, originality, relevance, and the journal's focus and scope, without discrimination or inappropriate influence from commercial, personal, or institutional interests. The journal may cooperate with authors, reviewers, institutions, and other scholarly organizations when necessary to address ethical concerns and maintain the integrity of the academic record.
✒️ Research and Publication Misconduct
Research and publication misconduct includes, but is not limited to, fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, manipulation of citations, and misrepresentation of research findings or sources.
When an allegation of misconduct is received, the editorial team will conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the allegation is credible and whether further investigation is warranted. The editorial team will consider relevant evidence and any potential conflicts of interest. The corresponding author may be contacted to provide clarification or a response on behalf of all co-authors. Where necessary, the journal may seek additional information or expert advice.
If misconduct is confirmed before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. If misconduct is identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the case. In serious cases, the journal may notify the relevant institution or other appropriate authorities.
✒️ Editorial Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief has the final responsibility and authority for editorial decisions regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's academic quality, originality, methodological soundness, relevance, and contribution to the field of Arabic language education.
Editors must make decisions fairly and objectively without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, institutional affiliation, or other personal characteristics. Editors should not allow personal, political, commercial, or institutional interests to influence editorial decisions.
Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information. Manuscript information may only be shared with individuals directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process. Unpublished materials contained in submitted manuscripts must not be used for personal research or other purposes without the written permission of the author.
Editors must also manage potential conflicts of interest and take appropriate action when ethical concerns, plagiarism, research misconduct, or significant errors are identified.
✒️ Reviewers' Responsibilities
Reviewers play an important role in supporting editorial decision-making and improving the academic quality of manuscripts. Reviews should be conducted objectively, fairly, constructively, and professionally.
Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts based on their academic quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, clarity, and contribution to Arabic language education. Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited and inform the editor of substantial similarities between the manuscript under review and other published works when known.
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose manuscript content to unauthorized persons or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest, including personal, professional, institutional, or academic relationships with the authors. Reviewers should decline the assignment if such conflicts may compromise the objectivity of their evaluation or if they do not have sufficient expertise to review the manuscript.
✍️ Authors' Responsibilities
Originality: Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been previously published. All ideas, statements, data, and works belonging to other authors must be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are free from plagiarism, including plagiarism of ideas, text, data, figures, or other intellectual contributions. Appropriate citation and acknowledgment must be provided for all sources used.
Multiple Submissions: Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. Manuscripts that substantially overlap with previously published works must be appropriately disclosed to the editor.

Ethical Compliance: Authors are responsible for ensuring that research involving human participants, personal data, or other sensitive subjects complies with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.
Use of Artificial Intelligence: Authors may use artificial intelligence and other digital tools as supporting instruments in research and manuscript preparation. However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, and ethical compliance of the manuscript. Where the use of generative AI materially contributes to the preparation of the manuscript, such use should be transparently disclosed in accordance with the journal's applicable policy.
